Z-Net Features
Available in standardised configurations, the N-STATION features a sealed case design with no floppy or CD-ROM drive, thus limiting unauthorised access or changes to software and internal components. Additionally, system maintenance can be done over the LAN during off-peak hours thanks to its built-in Wake-On-LAN capabilities. It also features a hardware monitoring ASIC and is DMI compliant. With these advanced management functions, administration costs-which can account for 47% of TCO during the first year (85% during the 5th)1—are drastically lowered. In conclusion, the N-STATION supports all Windows business software, Java applications and standards-based NOS, and integrates seamlessly into existing networks.

Doing It Ourselves
At ZDS, we immediately recognised the intrinsic advantages of the Net PC. And our commitment to this innovative technology is so strong that we decided to deploy it ourselves.
After a company-wide survey, 42% of our Puteaux staff met the N-STATION profile: rarely uses CD-ROMs or floppies but needs multimedia capabilities, works on-site and spends a great deal of time accessing networked resources.
The Mephisto Project will deploy 70 N-STATIONs, providing a real-world example of how the N-STATION helps to improve user productivity and reduce ownership costs.
